RRR Show – October 13, 2013

Welcome to "Rapidly Rotating Records", Glenn Robison's weekly, one-hour radio program of "toe-tapping music from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and 30s", broadcast Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM over KISL FM 88.7 Avalon.

On this week's "good enough" edition of the show we're going to celebrate the birthdays of Gerald Marks and Jack Shilkret, find out what "Madame" is up to, and you'll find out some things you didn't know you didn't know. My favorite record on this week's show is "I'd Walk A Million Miles (To Be A Little Nearer To You)" by Gerald Marks Hotel Tuller Orchestra with the vocal by William Fletcher. What's your favorite?  As always, simply click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show. And of course, your comments, requests and topic suggestions are always welcome.

Hi, Carole. I’m so glad I could make the connection. I have a couple more of William Fletcher’s records, one as a vocal solo and one as part of a trio. I would like to play them on an upcoming show, and would like to talk with you about your grandfather. Please send me an email to glenn at rapidlyrotatingrecords dot com for contact info. I hope to hear from you.

I am very interested in talking to you and hearing the other songs. My mother says that he was good friends with Jimmy Dorsey, Jean Goldkette and Glen Gray.
