RRR 78RPM Show – 26 August 2018

Rapidly Rotating Records 78RPM Logo

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

The first thing you’ll notice about this week’s show is that we’re back–permanently–to Red Nichols’ February 1928 recording of “Avalon” as our theme song. Although there was some support for Billy Cotton’s version, the overwhelming opinion of listeners, probably due to tradition, was to stick with Red and the Five Pennies. After all, his record has been used as the theme song for the show for all but the first few months of our 18 years on the air. Thanks to all who voiced their opinion and I hope this won’t deter you from listening. As for the rest of this week’s show, were going to do some jumping, celebrate the birthday of Walter Blaufuss, learn a new word, deal with some snakes and get admitted to the bar. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to Glenn@RapidlyRotatingRecords.com.  And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.

Enjoy the show!
