Rapidly Rotating Records Logo

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

On this evening’s show we’re gonna take a musical trip to Indiana and visit the Wabash, do some more acrobatics and celebrate the birthdays of Bud Green and Eddie Condon.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Bud Green
November 19 marked the birth in 1897 in Austria of lyricist Bud Green.

Do Something – Broadway Broadcasters (Sam Lanin) / Scrappy Lambert, v.
That’s My Weakness Now – Nat Shillkret & Victor Orch / Frank Marvin, v.
You Showed Me The Way – Fats Waller and His Rhythm / Thomas “Fats” Waller

Segment 2: The Man on the Flying Trapeze
A couple of weeks ago in connection with the W. C. Fields film, I played “The Man On The Flying Trapeze”, Parts 1 and 2, but in the interest of variety, I played each part by a different band and vocalist. However, I had more than one listener write to say they felt cheated by not getting to hear the entire recording by each band. Well, far be it from me to shortchange my audience, so this week, we’ll play the flip sides of those two records, as well as a 20th century recording of the other song we played in that set.

The Man On The Flying Trapeze, Pt. 1 – Allen Lane AHO / Dick Robertson, v.
On The Banks of the Wabash – Grey Gull Studio Band / Al Bernard, v.
The Man On The Flying Trapeze, Pt 2 – Anson Weeks AHO / Frank Saputo, v.

Segment 3: Wabash
It’s so nice sitting on the banks of the Wabash, that we’re gonna spend this next segment there as well.

Underneath The Wabash Moon – Bert Dolan AHO / Jimmy Kern, v.
Wabash Blues – Coon Sanders Orchestra / Joe Sanders & Carelton Coon, v.
Oh! Baby – Wabash Dance Orchestra / Tom Edwards, v.

Segment 4: Indiana

She’s A Corn-Fed Indiana Girl – George Olsen and His Music / Fran Frey & Bob Rice, v.
