Segment 1: The Ziegfeld Follies
March 15 marked the birth in 1867 of Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr., in Chicago, where his father ran the Chicago Musical College. But he’s best known for producing elaborately staged revues designed to emphasize the glamour and beauty of the American girl”, including 21 Follies between 1907 and 1931. So here in honor of Florenz Ziegfeld, is a set of songs from The Ziegfeld Follies.

Segment 2: The Girl Friend
March 17, 1926, “The Girl Friend”, with music by Richard Rogers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart opened at the Vanderbilt Theater in New York City, and ran for 301 performances. So here to commemorate the debut of “The Girl Friend” are three songs from that show.
