Rapidly Rotating Records Logo

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

On this evening’s show we’ll have not one, but two segments dedicated to Al Bowlly, and we’ve got some songs about canines, vision, and doors.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Al Bowlly
January 7 marked the birth in 1899 in Mozambique of Albert Alick Bowlly. Here’s the first of two sets of songs by Al Bowlly.

Goopy Geer – Carroll Gibbons and His Savoy Hotel Orpheans / Al Bowlly
I’m Sorry Sally – Fred Elizalde / Al Bowlly
Sunny Days – Ray Noble and the New Mayfair Orchestra / Al Bowlly

Segment 2: Doors
January 7 in 1941, the NBC Blue radio network presented the first installment of “The Squeaky Door”, later changed to a more familiar title: “The Inner Sanctum”. So here to commemorate “The Inner Sanctum”, or “The Squeaky Door”, are some rapidly rotating records about….doors.

Chased Old Satan Through the Door – Woodie Brothers

Segment 3: Eyes

I Only Have Eyes for You – Anson Weeks/Kay St. Germain
The Twinkly In Your Eyes – Markel’s Orchestra

Segment 4: Dogs

Well, I promised a second set by Al Bowlly, and here he is.
