A “Parish The Thought” Edition of RRR # 1,304 July 13, 2025

Mitchell Parish, Lyricist
Mitchell Parish

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? A clue is in the title of this week’s show. He’s lyricist Mitchell Parish and although he’s been heard on the show numerous times before, he’s not had his own birthday segment, until now. There are two other birthday segments this week, for Noble Sissle and Johnny Marvin. In other segments, we’ll take a musical trip through the Panama Canal and in the final segment, enjoy some pork chops. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

Thanks for a salute to Mitchell Parish. I never met him, but he was a guest on Rich Conaty’s Big Broadcast’s 1,000th show in late 1992. A very witty fellow, then in his early 90s.
