Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
This is a photograph of the airship USS Los Angeles in Lakehurst, New Jersey on August 25, 1927 when, due to changing weather and wind currents, she did her famous “headstand.” So why is this the featured photograph for this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records? Well, because the fourth segment of the show is all about airships, blimps, Zeppelins and dirigibles. Listen to find out a bit of the history of the USS Los Angeles. The other four segments of the show are all birthday celebrations for Donald Lindley, “Punch” Miller, Edwin Swayze and the State of Arkansas. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
