Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Although it may look like the gentleman above is trying to figure out what the device is that he’s holding in his hand, he was intimately familiar with microphones, both radio and recording. He’s British bandleader Jack Payne and his is one of three natal anniversaries we’ll be celebrating on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. The others are Hugo Frey and “The Crooning Troubadour” Nick Lucas. In other segments we’ll hear some rapidly rotating records about pickles and pussycats. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
