Rapidly Rotating Records #1202 July 30, 2023

Lewis James in 1920

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you recognize this fellow? He’s been heard on the show dozens of time as a soloist, in duets and in groups, but never had his own birthday segment until tonight. He’s singer Lewis James and you’ll hear him in three solo performances in the first segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. We have two more birthdays to celebrate on this week’s show, those of Winston “Winky” Tharp and “High Noon.” Yes, the Gary Cooper movie. We’ll also have two segments devoted to a single vocabulary word. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING
