Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – 13 May 2001

Rapidly Rotating Records Logo

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Today is Mother’s Day. So in honor of all the mothers and mothers-to-be out there, and to everyone who has a mother, we’ve got a whole show of songs having to do in some way or another with mothers. We’ve got songs about dream mothers, mean mamas, red hot mamas, your mother and mine, and even a mother-in-law.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Happy Mother’s Day

Mama Inez – Fred Hall
Dream Mother – George Olsen and His Music
That’s My Mammy – Dorsey Bros
My Mama’s In Town – Lloyd Turner and His Villa Venice Orchestra

Segment 2: Officially Mother’s

Segment 4: Mothers of the World
Many celebrations of Mother’s Day are held throughout the world, and although they don’t all fall at the same time, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia and Belgium DO celebrate Mother’s Day on the same day as the US.

Mama’s Gone, Goodbye – Thelma Terry and Her Playboys
