Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – April 25, 2021

Golden Pheasant Restaurant Cleveland

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

The Golden Pheasant Restaurant in Cleveland, shown above in a post card, served American and Chinese food and had a large dance floor. They provided a dance band throughout the day and evening and one of the bands was Austin Wylie’s Golden Pheasant Orchestra.  You’ll hear Austin Wylie’s band on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records in a segment of tunes by Arthur Lange played by others. We’ll also have TWO “One Thing in Common” segments and TWO vocabulary lessons. We’ll also play a record that got cut from last week’s show because of time. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour over your favorite beverage and be transported musically back to a different era.

ENJOY THE SHOW!

I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
