Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – December 20, 2020

Ching Ling Foo
Ching Ling Foo Rag by Emil Katzenstein

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!

ENJOY THE SHOW!

This week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records will being and end with two *extremely* different readings of Clement Clarke Moore’s “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” but that’s the extent of the Christmas “music” this year. In the third segment of the show we’ll take a musical trip to Shanghai, which accounts for the illustrations above.  You’ll hear a snippet from “From Here To Shanhai” by Collins and Harlan which mentions the famous Chinese magician Ching Ling Foo.  In other segments, we’ll hear some *very* creative rhyming, and get “shot,” but don’t worry, not by bullets. What is the plural of “Dolores.” Doloreses or Doloresi? I ask because we’ll also have a segment with multiple songs about Dolores. There’s plenty of great music and what I think is some fascinating information, so prepare your favorite Yuletide beverage (I think I’ll have a Candy Cane Martini!), get comfortable and click below to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience. Happy Holidays!
