Happy Birthday to “The Schnozola!” RRR 78 RPM Show – February 12, 2023

Jimmy Durante at Piano c 1925
Jimmy Durante at Piano c 1925

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is?  He had his first and only birthday segment back in 2002, so it’s high time he was honored again. He’s pianist, composer, comedian and singer (?) Jimmy Durante. In the final segment of this week’s show, you’ll hear three of his compositions, one of them played by his own jazz band.  The other birthday segment on this week’s show is for William A. Kennedy. In other segments, we’ll do some knocking, have a twist on our usual vocabulary lessons and do some knocking. There’s lots of great music and interesting information (perhaps a little too much information in the case of Amou Haji!) so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to an earlier–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to instantly listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANKS FOR LISTENING!
ENJOY THE SHOW!
