Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – February 14, 2021

Dajos Bela

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who the fellow above is? He’s violinist Dajos Bela, born Leon Golzmann in Kiev, Ukraine on December 19, 1897. You’ll hear him directing the Odeon studio orchestra to start off the fourth segment of the show playing “All Muddled Up.” The segment closes with a vastly different arrangement of “All Muddled Up” performed by Harry Reser’s OKeh Syncopators. As an amateur mixologist and fan of vintage cocktails, I do a fair amount of muddling for mojitos, juleps, smashes, caipiroskas, old-fashioneds and shrubs. We’re going to muddle our way through the fourth segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records with some tunes about muddling. In other segments we’ll put on the brakes and get told what not to do and in the final segment we’ll get slap happy. The show starts out with some “unfortunate” records. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour to relax over your favorite beverage and be taken back in time to a different musical era.

ENJOY THE SHOW!

I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
