“The ‘Other’ March King” on RRR 78 RPM Show – February 19, 2023

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is?  He’s composer E. T. Paull. known as “the other march king” for the great number of patriotic and military marches he authored. But he was also a music publisher and in the first segment of this week’s edition of the show, you’ll not only find out what the E. T. in E. T. stands for (hint: it’s NOT Extra Terrestrial!) and you’ll find out his secret for selling his sheet music, which is still in great demand by collectors to this day.  There are also two other birthday celebrations this week, for bandleader Anson Weeks and cornetist Freddie Keppard.  In other segments we’ll do some juggling and play some football.  There’s lots of great music and interesting information (perhaps a little too much information in the case of Amou Haji!) so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to an earlier–and we think better–musical era.
