Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – January 31, 2021

Elsie Carlisle

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this lovely lady is?  She’s Elsie Carlisle who starts off this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records with her very own birthday salute. Unfortunately, we can play but three of the 340 or so recordings that she made. We’ll be introducing a new feature on this week’s show. It’s sort of like “One Thing in Common” but for lack of a catchier name, we’re calling it “To Whom Do These Records Refer?” We’ll be playing three records whose titles refer not to a composer or artist, but to an activist in the labor movement. If you know the answer before I tell you at the end of the segment, I’d like to talk to you after the show to find out just how you know! The third segment of the show will be devoted to songs about Alabama, started off with another version of a song we played last week, “Yea Alabama.” You should always treat the boss with respect and the fourth segment will give you some tips of dealing with the boss. The final segment of the show is all about dream boats. There’s plenty of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour, get your favorite beverage, relax and

ENJOY THE SHOW!

I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
