Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – June 12, 2022

Freddie "Schickelfritz" Fisher

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? Before Spike Jones, there was Freddie “Schnickelfritz” Fisher, who gets his own birthday segment for this first time on this week’s show. Tune in to find out why he was called “Schnickelfritz” and hear three recordings by Freddie Fisher and His Schnickelfritz Band.  In the other birthday segment on this week’s show you’ll be introduced to xylophonist extraordinaire Teddy Brown. In other segments, we’ll hear some more songs about Sue,  and you’ll find out the common name for marmota monax. And since it’s summer and September 15 is a ways away, we can safely don our straw boaters. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we thing better–musical era.

ENJOY THE SHOW!

Loved the Schnickelfritz section but with one minor correction: you said “Colonel Corn” was from Gold Diggers in Paradise. Its actually Gold Diggers in Paris. (Not one of the better Gold Diggers movies)

      Hi, Scott.

Thanks for listening and taking the time to write. I’m always open to correction and constructive criticism. I don’t know where “paradise” came from, but just to show you that I know the difference between Paris and Paradise, there will be “Paris” and “Paradise” segments on next week’s show! I hope you’ll tune in. Thanks again!

      Glenn
